New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced that Rs 2,000 and new notes of Rs 500 will be circulated soon, as the government is scrapping Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denomination notes, effective Tuesday midnight, to curb corruption.
The new note of Rs 500 will look completely different from the present one, which has a mix of green and yellow colours. The new one will be a combination of grey and yellow with picture of Red Fort on one side of the note

Modi said the new notes will be circulated from Nov 10, Department of Economic Affairs Secretary said.
The pictures of Rs 2,000 notes were leaked and circulated on social media platform on Monday.
