Hyderabad: The government is thinking of locating all Secretariat departments at one place instead of them being scattered across the city. Earlier, the government had wanted to locate the ministers’ chambers and Chief Secretary’s chamber at BRK Bhavan and for the secretariat departments to shift to the concerned HODs located at different places in the city. But now the ministers’ chambers will be located at HODs of the concerned departments.

A special chief secretary, who is looking after the shifting of Secretariat departments, said to locate the Secretariat departments in HODs would require a lot space. If the ministers’ chambers are located in the HODs, they need one chamber for each minister and one room for their personal staff.

If the Secretariat departments were located at one place, it would become easy to circulate files from one department to other department. But if the Secretariat departments were located at different places, it would take a lot of time to send the files. He added that locating the ministers’ chambers at HODs were still at the proposal stage.
