Nirmal chit scam: Tourism official quizzed

Thiruvananthapuram: An official with a tourism institution of the state government was quizzed by the Tamilnadu police probing the Nirmal Krishna chit scam on Tuesday.
According to sources, one Harikrishnan was quizzed as he was found to have close nexus with Nirmal Krishnan, the chief promoter of Nirmal Krishna chit fund. Harikrishnan is also alleged to have connection with Congress leader and former minister V. S. Sivakumar.
"Harikrishnan was found to have connections with Nirmal Krishan, especially with his benami transaction s. Hence he was quizzed as part of the investigation. But the links to any former minister with the scam did not come under the purview of the probe yet," said a senior official of Kerala police team associated with the probe.
Police sources also said that many close relatives and friends of Nirmal Krishna were also under close police surveillance as part of tracking Nirmal Krishna. A Tamilnadu police team is camping in Thiruvananthapuram as part of the probe.
