Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala University vice-chancellor P. K. Radhakrishnan has issued show cause notices to a woman employee for criticising him on the social media over the extension to his secretary after retirement.

Somol J. Panicker, president of the pro-Congress Kerala University Staff Union, received the notice for posting it on the WhatsApp group of the association, restricted to its members only.

Her allegations included that the VC had given an explanation that P. N. Shaji, the private secretary, was given six months’ extension due to the merit he exhibited, which she considered as an insult to others who did excellent service to the university but denied an extension.

Moreover, there was an allegation that the private secretary got promotion from the cadre of deputy registrar to joint registrar after asserting pressure the incumbent to take leave before 15 days to his retirement on October 31. The VC had claimed that the appointment was as per norms evolved by university syndicate.
