Kerala braces for Sabarimala Samrakshana Yatra

The KPCC yatras to be led by various leaders will end at the same place on November 15.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state will witness several yatras led by the Congress and the NDA from Thursday aimed at protecting the faith and traditions of Sabarimala. While the BJP’s Rath Yatra will be kicked off from Kasaragod, the Sabarimala Samrakshana Yatra of the KPCC will start from five regions, including Kasaragod.

The NDA yatra will be led jointly by BJP state president P. S. Sreedharan Pillai and BDJS president Tushar Vellapally and will conclude with a massive rally at Pathanamthitta on Nove-mber 13, the day when the Supreme Court will consider the review petitions. The KPCC yatras to be led by various leaders will end at the same place on November 15.

The NDA yatra will be flagged off by former Karnataka chief minister and Karnataka BJP state president B. S. Yedury-appa from Madhur Shree Madhanantheshwara Siddhi Vinayaka Temple at 10 a.m.

KPCC working president K. Sudhakaran will lead the rally from Kasaragod, which will be fla-gged off by former KPCC president M. M. Hassan. The padayatra from Alappuzha will be led by another KPCC working president Kodikunnil Suresh and will be inaugurated by AICC general secretary K. C. Venu-gopal. 

The padayatra from Thiruvananthapuram will be led by Congress MLA K. Muraleedharan and inaugurated by Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala. Mr Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan MLA will lead the padayatra from Thod-upuzha which will be inaugurated by AICC general secretary Oommen Chandy.

Congress woman leader Ms Shanimol Usman will lead the vehicle rally from Palakkad to Ern-akulam and it will be inaugurated by KPCC president Mullapally Ramachandran.

Mr Mullapally said the CPM and Sangh Parivar were cheating lakhs of Ayyappa devotees by co-mpromising on the Sabarimala customs. The RSS and TDB member had entered the Sannidhanam without the irumudikettu, he said.

BJP state general secretary A. N. Radhakrishnan alleged that severe human rights violations were taking place at Sabarimala.
