Hyderabad: The state government has convened the Legislature session from December 16. Indications are that both Assembly and Council would meet for a week before concluding ahead of Christmas.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao held a preparatory meeting on Wednesday at the Pragathi Bhavan and firmed up the dates for the Winter Session and forwarded the file to Governor for summoning the House. Mr Rao asked the Chairs to convene business advisory committee meetings a day before the session to decide the agenda.

Deviating from the practice of holding the TRS Legislature Party meeting in the Assem-bly premises, Mr Rao, who is also leader of the TRS Legislature Party, convened it in Pragathi Bhavan on December 15. The Cabinet meeting on December 10 and the collectors conference on December 14 will precede the session.

Speaker S. Madhusudana Chary and Secretary Legislature S. Raja Sadaram cancelled their proposed tour to London to participate in Common-wealth Parliamentary Association convention starting December 13.

The Houses met for a day on August 30 to approve a Resolution on the Constitutional Amendment Bill for the GST. The Opposition Congress, BJP, and TD leaders have been demanding since July for a session to discuss the problems of the people.
