Tamil Nadu government offers relief to owners of houses damaged in cyclone
Enumerating works of cyclone-affected homes in Kanyakumari district have been completed.
Chennai: The revenue department has provided Rs 2.21 crore relief to 4,222 owners of houses in Kanyakumari district damaged by Ockhi cyclone. The department has also assured that other affected house owners would also be provided with relief aid.
Enumerating works of cyclone-affected homes in Kanyakumari district have been completed. Out of 1,035 fully damaged houses 993 house owners have been provided with relief aids of Rs 49.65 lakh and out of 3,219 partly damaged houses, all the house owners have been provided with relief aids of Rs 1.32, P.Chandaramohan, revenue secretary, said. Of all 4,266 houses, a total amount of Rs 2.21 has been disbursed and necessary steps have been taken for the providing relief aids to remaining persons within two days, Chandramahan added.
Also, revenue department with the assistance of agriculture and horticulture department has commenced the surveying of damaged crops including paddy, coconut, cassava, rubber, clove, pepper, and areca palm. "Taluk wise teams have been formed for survey and the details will be received on daily basis and necessary actions will be taken to compensate the losses," he said. The revenue department has also taken steps to sanction solatium of Rs 4 lakh each to the family of 10 persons died during Ockhi cyclone.
