Hyderabad High Court jails four forest officials for contempt
Court directed the Registrar General to file a complaint before the jurisdictional magistrate for the offence of perjury committed by them.
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Friday sentenced four forest officials to 15 days of imprisonment for their “willful violation of an interim order” of the court and deliberate attempt to mislead the court by tampering with the official records.
The court slapped fine of Rs 2,000 on each of the four officials while allowing three contempt petitions filed by Mr Vajja Rajababu and three others, residents of the Bawargonda reserve forest block at Chinthaguda of Warangal district. The petitions were filed against the divisional forest officer, Warangal (South), in interfering in their lands to evict them from forest lands despite interim orders.
While imposing the imprisonment and fine on the officers, the court directed the Registrar General to file a complaint before the jurisdictional magistrate for the offence of perjury committed by them.
