Hyderabad: Congress leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and a delegation of party leaders asked Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to stop the “indiscriminate” sale of liquor and prevent atrocities on women in the state.
The delegation, in a memorandum, listed various incidents in which women were the victims, and sought corrective and remedial measures. They asked her to suggest to the government to control the free flow and sale of liquor in belt shops, permit rooms, shops on highways, and a direction to the police to discharge their duties in a free and fair manner and as per the law.
They said that incidents of rape and murder reflected the administrative lapses in the state.
