Situation dire, K Chandrasekhar Rao cuts all departmental funds

Hyderabad: Keeping in view the deteriorating financial situation, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday directed the finance department to reduce allocations to all departments in tune with the decrease in Central funds flowing to the state.

Mr Rao was speaking at a review meeting with the senior officers on the state’s financial position.

He told officials that he was planning to visit Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman to apprise them of the difficulties of the Centre not releasing funds.

The chief minister said he intended to go to Delhi in the next five to six days along with officials.

During the meeting, Mr Rao said that the faulty polices of the Central government had led to the difficult situation.

The meeting was of the firm opinion that the state government had no option but to exercise self-control.

In the backdrop of the economic crisis, Mr Rao suggested that all departments should cut their expenditure and observe fiscal discipline. He wanted ministers and officials to follow fiscal discipline in tune with the economic situation in the state

The Chief Minister has instructed officials from the finance department to prepare a detailed note on the financial situation and the funds which are due from the Centre to be placed before the Cabinet on December 11.
