Varsities take up green challenge

Hyderabad: The registrars of Osmania University, Palamuru Uni-versity and Mahatma Gandhi University drawn in the ‘green challenge’ to enhance the greenery on the campuses. The challenge was given by TS Higher Education Council vice-chairman-I R. Limba-dri.

The registrars have accepted the challenge and said that they would implement it as soon as possible on the campuses. Mr Limbadri said the challenge would help in environmental protection and increase social forestry, especially on the campuses.

During the programme, TSCHE vice-chairman-II Prof. V. Venkata Raman highlighted the need to reduce global warming, which can be tackled by planting more trees. He said, “a statewide campaign should be held to sensitise all educational institutes about the need for ‘environmental consciousness’ so that the youth may take up such green activities.”

TSCHE undertook the task as a part of the green challenge which was initiated by TRS MP J. Santosh Kumar.
