A couple, a multimedia student and a lorry cleaner were killed and eight people were injured in accidents on the ORR on Sunday.

P. Narayana Goud, 60, a civil contractor from Sadashivpet, his wife Satyavathi, 55, son Bhaskar Goud, 32, a businessman, his wife Harika, 30, a housewife, and
Bharath Goud, 29, a civil surgeon and their driver Madhu, 32, were going to Hyderabad for Sankranti shopping.
As they approached Gachibowli the speeding vehicle was on the first lane. “When the vehicle reached Indrareddy Nagar Kanche, Madhu lost control and hit the divider on the right. The vehicle was flung into the air, turned over several times and fell on the other side,” Narsingi SI D. Vijay Naik said.
Narayana Goud and his wife were killed on the spot. The others were injured seriously and are undergoing treatment. They are critical.
In another accident on ORR near Yadgarpally X Roads, a 22-year-old multimedia student who was on a joy ride with friends in their new car was killed.
Cheeli Jai Kumar, working as senior manager at Andhra Bank’s Dammaiguda branch purchased a new car on December 28. His son Pridhvi Raj, 22, and his friends from Karim-nagar, Abhilash, 23, and Ramchander, 24, went on a ride from his home in Nagaram. While returning Pridhvi lost control at a steep curve.
“Instead of taking the car towards the right he drove straight and fell into a 12 feet deep ditch after turning over in the air,” Keesara inspector M. Surender Goud said. Pridhvi died on the spot, while Abhilash and Ramchander suffered injuries. Though the vehicle had safety balloons, the passengers could not escape.
In another incident in Keesara, 24-year-old borewell drilling vehicle cleaner Purushotham Shyam Rao was killed on Saturday night.
Police said Purusho-tham’s vehicle halted on ORR as he wanted to relieve himself. While returning a van hit him and killed him on the spot. Later, the van hit the parked vehicle and dragged it for 20 meters.
Van driver, Sheikh Jeelani, 40, got stuck between the cabin and the body of the borewell vehicle. Police used cranes to separate the vehicles and rescued Jeelani, whose left leg got fractured. Borewell vehicle driver Venkanna was also injured.
