Drunk driving mishap: Girl still critical

Anusha, who was declared brain dead after the accident, showed no signs of improvement.

Hyderabad: Anusha Reddy, who was one of the victims in the drunk driving mishap at Jubilee Hills, was discharged from Apollo hospital on Monday. Her relatives said that they did not have enough money to fund the treatment there. The survivors of the accident, Anusha and Anusha Reddy, were undergoing treatment in Apollo Hospital.  

Following the incident, Jubilee Hills police arrested the accused, Vishnu Vardhan, under relevant Sections of the IPC and remanded him.

Anusha, who was declared brain dead after the accident, showed no signs of improvement. 

Relatives of Masthani, who succumbed in the mishap, said they will seek justice for their dead kin. The relatives, however, did not know much about her friends who were also involved in the accident. Her mother said, “She was my only child. Please give that man severe punishment and see that justice is done.” 

Speaking about the accident, a relative said that they received calls from locals who said Masthani was injured in a small accident. 

“We were on our way when we were told that she was no more, and that some drunk driver killed her,” a relative said.

The girls were on their way to Masthani’s house from Anusha’s house in Kukatpally when the tragedy took place.

The drunk driver was booked under Section 304 (Punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPCand others.
