Guidelines for train drivers revised
According to the latest norms, if SPAD occurs various factors will be taken into account and penalties imposed accordingly.
Hyderabad: The Railway Board has revised the norms and guidelines for punishments to be imposed on loco pilots and assistant loco pilots in case of ‘Signal Passing at Danger (SPAD). Earlier, the LPs and ALPs were removed from service even though they just crossed a signal million metre without any accident or derailment which was a psychological barrier for the loco running staff. It affected their mental set up, said, members of SCRMU.
According to the latest norms, if SPAD occurs various factors will be taken into account and penalties imposed accordingly. ‘Removal from service' will be imposed only in extreme circumstances, the Board directive said.
Ch.Sankara Rao, general secretary, (SCR) Mazdoor(SCRMU) said, “This is a relief to the staff and the SCR Mazdoor union congratulates the running staff for this victory.”
