DHARMAPURI: The OBC Vanniyar girl who went missing with a Dalit boy from a village in this district recently appeared in the Dharmapuri judicial magistrate's court on Monday.

The girl was sent to live with her husband after she informed the court that she was “not kidnapped” as claimed by her relatives.

At around 9 am, 20-year-old J.Priyanka of Nallampalli village here in Dharmapuri came to the local judicial court with her 22-year-old husband M.Raj Kumar, a Dalit boy and native of her village.

The girl informed the court that she was not kidnapped as alleged by her father in the police complaint against her husband after Priyanka did not return home from college.

According to sources, Priyanka told the magistrate that she was in love with Raj Kumar for over four years.

She decided to marry him against her parents’ wishes because her relatives were conspiring after coming to know about her love affair.

The couple got married with the support of their well-wishers and allegedly stayed in the house of Raj Kumar’s relatives in Uthangarai in Dharmapuri district, sources added.
