Hold your breath! You are near Kundalahalli Lake
The residents too are worried about the health hazards due to the stench and flies.
Bengaluru: Residents and employees working around Kundalahalli Lake are a stressed lot as they have to put up with the stench emanating from the garbage dumped near the lake.
The whole areas is constantly engulfed in foul smell emanating from household wet and dry waste, hospital waste, industrial waste dumped near the lake and those working in software companies nearby rarely step out of their offices.
The residents too are worried about the health hazards due to the stench and flies.
Over the years, garbage has spilled on to the nearby road, covering the entire footpath and it is covered with wild plants and bushes.
The area also becomes desolate at night and local residents fear to tread. In December itself, several incidences of robbery and attempt to molest women have been reported.
Many eateries have come up in the area, causing traffic congestion during the day, as many people park their vehicles on the road.
The 30-acre Kundalahalli Lake used to be a habitat for herons, egrets, cranes and many other rare birds. But the pollution and the dumping of waste have put their habitat in danger.
During the heavy rains last year, polluted rain water seeped through the garbage mounds and flowed into the lake making it toxic and threatening its aquatic life.
