Hyderabad: To the surprise of the Resident Welfare Associations in Sainikpuri, the newly elected corporator Swarna Raj called upon the presidents of 15 associations on Monday. These members have come together as one unit, calling themselves North Eastern Secunderabad Colonies Federation, and are fighting for common issues like overflowing sewage drains, clearing and cleaning of open plots, repairing of roads, issues of transportation and also safety and security of colonies.

The members, who have been are using technology like Whats-App to communicate with the local GHMC officers, have now also involved the corporator as a member. Mr C.S. Chandrashekar, president of Sri Sai Baba Officers Colony said, “We are happy that he came and met us. He wants us to chalk out a plan of visiting the different colonies and understanding the problems and try to rectify them. This is a positive step.” By being included in the group, Mr Raj will be able to understand the regular problems faced by people and take quick action.

Presently, GHMC officers are part of the group and get constant feedback from the members. The colonies have open plots sanctioned for parks which have been walled by the GHMC but are not being developed. These development works need to be taken up and the RWAs want the funds allotted for the colonies to come to them and not get diverted.
