Hyderabad doctors plagued by MCI registration

Hyderabad: Over 500 doctors who have obtained post-graduate degrees from government colleges are unable to apply for assistant professor posts in the government sector because their registration with the Medical Council of India was delayed by two months. Their registration date does not fall within the cut-off date set by the Telangana government  for the recruitment of assistant professors.

Assistant professor posts have opened up in government colleges in the state. The recruitment process has begun, but post-graduate doctors from government colleges are unable to apply.

The post-graduate batch of 2014 went on a strike, due to which their studies were delayed by two months. Because of this, their registration after completion of rural service was only carried out in November 2017. Meanwhile, the Telangana State Public Service Commission has set September 12, 2017, as the cut-off registration date for application.

Dr G. Srinivas, an advisor for the Telangana Junior Doctors’ Association, says, “Post-graduates from government colleges must be considered. We are demanding an extension of the date.” A large number of these post-graduates have written to the government demanding consideration.
