The District Election Officer has informed that as many as 13,392 political hoardings, wall posters and other banners have been removed in Chennai district.

Chennai: The District Election Officer has informed that as many as 13,392 political hoardings, wall posters and other banners have been removed in Chennai district subsequent to enforcement of code of conduct rules on March 4.

As of March 7, as many as 9223 posters, banners, wall paintings and other political hoardings erected in government office complexes as well as in public spots had been removed.

Further, 4169 banners placed on private compounds and wall space have also been removed, a statement from the DEO’s office added.

On Tuesday, the commissioner of the local body, who is also the DEO,  met with all party representatives and instructed them on adopting code of conduct rules.
