Thiruvananthapuram: CPI national leadership on Thursday said the situation in Kerala was favourable for the victory of Left Democratic Front in the forthcoming Assembly polls. The political situation in the state was reviewed at the two day National Executive Council meeting of the party which ended in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

“The party discussed Kerala in length. The party leadership is of the view that people are fed up with the corrupt UDF Government and are desperately looking forward to a change of guard,” he added.

When asked whether JNU students president Kanaiyah Kumar would come for campaigning in Kerala, the CPI central executive member said that the issue had not been discussed yet.  But he said Kanaiyah would surely visit Kerala soon.

The CPI and CPM leadership is keen on having Kanaiyah on board for the campaigning.  But there is also a view that he should not be pushed into hard campaigning since as the student leader had become a rallying point for people cutting across political parties and those who oppose the alleged fascist and communal agenda of the Sangh Parivar.
