Kozhikode: The failure of women victims of cyber crimes to register complaints result in allowing the culprits to go scot-free, said PM Sudha, sub-divisional engineer, BSNL,who is handling the cyber evidence section of the telecom company.Addressing a discussion on cyber safety organized in connection with the ‘Women’s Day’ observance by the Department of Social Justice and Akashvani at Malabar Christian College, here, she said that telecom companies had a system in place to assist and ensure justice to the victims of cyber harassment. “There is a wrong notion that if one wants to file a complaint they have to produce the proof of harassment, which is not true”, she said.
“The telecom companies, internet service providers like Google and social networking sites like ‘Facebook’ are legally bound to submit cyber evidence for such online criminal offences”, she said, adding that the evidence of mobile phone calls would reach the court in the form of CDR (Call Detail Record) files and Tower dump analysis files. She added that evidence related to ‘whatsapp’ and ‘Facebook’ would reach as IP dump and that related to the ownership of the mobile phone as CAF (Customer Acquisition Form) files. “A written complaint is enough to make telephone providers submit the cyber evidence”, she added.
