MLC elections: 1.5 lakh graduates gear up for voting
Poll material has been dispatched to the polling booths in the three districts of north Andhra.
Visakhapatnam: The stage set for Thursday’s North Andhra Graduates MLC election where the big contest is between Mr A. Ajai Sarma of the Left- and YSRC-backed Progressive Democratic Front and BJP-TD candidate P.V.N. Madhav. Poll material has been dispatched to the polling booths in the three districts of north Andhra. Polling will be held from 8 am to 4 pm on March 9 and counting will be held on March 15.
A total of 1,55,957 graduates that have registe-red to vote in the three districts including 1,04,063 men, 51,333 women and 561 others. Visakhapatnam district has 90,074 voters including 56,659 men, 33,103 women and 312 others; Vizianagaram district has 24,308 male voters, 10,167 female and 95 others totalling 34,570 voters; Srikakulam district has 31,313 voters including 23,096 men, 8,063 women and 154 others.
The PDF has worked hard to retain the seat, while the ruling party alliance sweated it out to dislodge it. There are around 340 polling officers and 250 assistant polling officers for 134 polling booths in Vizag district. Overall there are 224 polling booths in the three districts. In Vizag alone there are 148 micro poll observers.
