Tamil Nadu CM announces Rs 7 lakh ex-gratia to victim's kin

CHENNAI: Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Thursday ordered the suspension of Kamaraj, the traffic inspector, who allegedly pushed a two-wheeler leading to the death of a pregnant woman and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 7 lakh to the family of the victim.
In a statement, Palaniswami said he was saddened at hearing the news of Usha and expressed deepest condolences to her family.
“I have ordered release of Rs 7 lakh as ex-gratia to Usha’s family from the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund,” he said. He said besides suspension of Kamaraj, the government has also ordered a detailed enquiry into the incident. “Action will be taken against concerned after the conclusion of the inquiry,” he said.
