CM Pinarayi Vijayan to release Health Minister's book on Nipah virus
Ms Shylaja has written the book in first person, mentioning her experience battling the virus from day 1.
KOZHIKODE: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will release the book penned by health minister K.K. Shylaja at Keshava Menon Hall Saturday at 11 am. The book titled Prathirodathinde Dinagal: Padangal (Days of resistance and the lesson) was penned by the minister after Kozhikode district witnessed one of the major outbreaks in the country in the name of Nipah virus and the efforts taken behind the government to bring the virus under control.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan himself has written the editorial of the book for the health minister. T. Padmanaban, noted writer will also be present for the ceremony. The book has been divided into 11 chapters. From entry of the unexpected virus to a patient in Perambra to the different means of attempts taken to bring the virus under control are the major topics covered in the book. Ms Shylaja has written the book in first person, mentioning her experience battling the virus from day 1.
“It was indeed one of the worst and the most tiresome task I have undertaken since after I joined the department, she says. Even though the outbreak of the virus turned to be a nightmare to me, the people revolving around me stood firm to fight the virus and hence the book is also a tribute to those strong brave people who stood like a pillar,” she added.
