Hyderabad: Bluefrog Mobile Technologies, allegedly involved in the AP voter data breach scandal, has the GHMC on its client list. In 2012, Bluefrog undertook EPIC-Aadhaar and biometric seeding for GHMC.

This has raised questions about violation of the security of voters’ data. Civic officials now say they will issue notice to the firm to remove the GHMC’s name from its client list.

Bluefrog is a Visakhapatnam-based company which was involved in collecting data for Andhra Pradesh citizen services, the data is suspected to have found its way to the Sevamitra app via IT Grids India Private Limited.

Highly placed sources said Bluefrog had carried out EPIC-Aadhaar and biometric seeding during Congress rule when Mr M.T. Krishna Babu was municipal commissioner. A official said it was a pilot project, and the GHMC was not impressed by Bluefrog’s work.

The recent incidents of deletion of a large number of names from the Hyderabad voters’ list in the recent Assembly election, and inclusion of bogus names in the sanitation wing rolls, have raised suspicions about the role played by Bluefrog.

Sources said that the authorities must clarify if the security of citizen data had been breached. More than 25,000 names were deleted from the voters’ list, and the GHMC has identified more than 150 bogus workers in the sanitation wing.
