Salem: Solar caps for traffic cops

Salem: With soaring day temperatures amid a heat wave in Salem even before the onset of summer, there was some cheer for the traffic police who have to sweat it out under the hot sun to help keep road chaos at bay.

Extending a helping hand was the Salem district SP herself, Ms Deepa Kanikar, along with Omalur DSP, Saravanan organising a small function on the outskirts of Salem on Friday to distribute solar caps and sun glasses to the traffic cops. Distribution of butter milk was also arranged to ensure they do not suffer from dehydration.

With the function also coinciding with the International Women's Day, Deepa Kanikar also greeted women present at the function with roses.
