Coimbatore: Woman delivers female triplets, creates record
However, little did the parents of these newborn triplets expect all three of them to be girl babies.
Coimbatore: “One for sorrow, two for joy, three for a girl, and so forth,” goes a widely known nursery rhyme. And when all three are girls, the happiness is triple-fold.
However, little did the parents of these newborn triplets expect all three of them to be girl babies. And when it was confirmed at the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital, couple Suresh Babu and Sindhu’s joy knew no bounds, as Sindhu delivered female triplets at the hospital on Friday.
“What better way to celebrate International Women’s Day?” Dr B. Asokan dean of CMCH asked, in an interaction with the media on Friday. The girls were born at 9:23 am, 9:24 am and 9:25 am respectively.
The couple, residents of Gandhipuram in the city reached the hospital on March 2, when the expecting mother was admitted. Calling it a rear case, Dr Asokan said, “this is the first case when a patient is delivering all three infants of the same gender at our hospital this year.” The delivery was done through the C-section. Mother and three infants are doing well. “At the hospital, we handle 400
C-section deliveries on an average per month, a majority of them being high risk pregnancy cases. Expecting mothers from in and around Coimbatore visit the hospital,” the dean added.
