The CBSE's three-language will continue till Class 10 against the current practice of letting students choose their second language other than English after Class 8.

Thiruvananthapuram: The CBSE Regional Office here has created a monitoring mechanism to ensure CBSE schools purchase only NCERT textbooks. This was following reports it received that some affiliated schools are forcing students to buy books from private publishers. Regional officer Tarun Kumar said the cost of private publishers' books was three to five times more.  “They affect about eight lakh students studying in CBSE schools in the state,” he told DC. “The regional office here is all set to control it. This is for the first time such a mechanism is being put in place in the country.”

The regional office established a two-way monitoring mechanism which involves taking input from schools as well as parents and students.  Therefore all CSBE private schools are directed to provide a copy of indent placed with the NCERT or  NCERT empanelled vendor.  Copy of indent should be sent to CBSE Regional Office Block - B, 2nd floor, LIC Divisional Office Campus, Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram - 695004,  by  May 15, 2018.  In case schools have not placed any indent till date, they can do it now and sent a copy to CBSE by that time.

Simultaneously to consolidate all such reports regarding the forcible selling, parents and students can report online at https://tinyurl.com/way2ncert. NCERT has already taken the initiative in this regard and established an online portal for booking and delivery of books. NCERT books are also available through the NCERT empanelled vendors.  Moreover, NCERT books are available in sufficient quantity.
