THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state leadership on Tuesday  held the RSS responsible for triggering fresh round of violence in Kannur. The CPM leaders said peace had returned to the district after a series of  peace initiatives taken by the government with the cooperation of  different political parties. Political killings had not been reported even from the most sensitive areas for quite some time. However, the killing of  CPM worker Babu Kannipoyil at Pallur allegedly by RSS-BJP and the retaliatory killing of RSS worker Shanej P at New Mahe within hours, indicates the beginning of yet another round of brutal  political killings.

The CPM worker’s murder on Monday was highly provocative and aimed at creating trouble in the district. The savagery witnessed in the murder points to a new model of brutal killing, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said. “Babu was attacked without any provocation while he was returning home. The murder was planned at the recent RSS meet held at Thokilan-gadi Koothuparamba and executed by the killer gang. The RSS members were given special training to carry out the savage model killing,” the CPM state secretary alleged.

Kodiyeri alleged that since LDF government came to power in May 25, 2016,  the RSS had murdered 15 CPM workers.  The RSS gangs were carrying out murders with the support BJP government at the Centre. "Narendra Modi should advise RSS members to lay down weapons in Kerala," he said. The CPM state secretariat appealed to the party works to conduct peaceful protest across the state against the killing.

He urged the cadre to maintain restraint even in the event of grave provocation from the other side. Meanwhile the BJP-RSS combine has accused the CPM of resorting to political killings in the district. The party condemned the killing of their worker and demanded the arrest of those behind the murder. The BJP leaders alleged that their workers were being hounded by the police while the CPM killer gangs were roaming freely.
