Leaders have taken over police, says V D Satheesan
The UDF protest was also against the political violence and hike in fuel prices.
Thrissur: Instead of the Station House Officers, the local CPM leaders have taken over the reins of police stations in the state and that was the reason why the there are reports of police atrocities in the state on a daily basis, KPCC vice-president V.D. Satheesan has said. He was inaugurating the UDF protest against the alleged police terror in the state by picketing Thrissur Collectorate as a part of the state-wide protest called by the Front on Tuesday.
“Now, instead of court and police, those in power are issuing warrant and summons and the government machinery is unleashing terror,” he said.
Satheesan said that the death of Sreejith in Varapuzha was the sixth case of custodial murder after the LDF came to power.
The police was letting the criminals go free and on the other hand were stamping to death innocent persons in the police lockups, he noted. Sateeshan also demanded CBI probe into the death of Sreejith in Varapuzha after he was brutally tortured in police custody. The UDF protest was also against the political violence and hike in fuel prices.
