Road rage: 23-year-old killed in Bengaluru, another injured in melee

BENGALURU: A row following a minor accident cost the life of a 23-year-old man, while his friend got critically injured after they were attacked by two unidentified men in Kanakpura Taluk in Bengaluru Rural police station limits on Tuesday night.

According to the police, the incident took place around 9.30 pm at Harohalli Circle. The deceased, identified as Jaya Surya, a resident of Harohalli, working in a farm. The assault happened when was heading to a nearby place along with his friend Srinivas, 23.

Police said, while the duo was heading to the main road from a service road, another car on the main road slightly brushed past their vehicle. This led to an altercation between two parties.

After that they got on to their vehicles and began moving in the same direction. However, Jaya Surya didn’t give way to the other vehicle to overtake. The unidentified men later intercepted Jaya Surya and Srinivas and again picked up a quarrel. In a fit of rage they assaulted and stabbed Jaya Surya and Srinivas before fleeing the spot.

While Jaya Surya succumbed to injuries in the hospital, Srinivas is said to be out of danger. Upon receiving an alert Harohalli police reached the spot and carried out spot investigation, police added. Harohalli police have registered a case.
