Home State' to get 10 per cent weightage

Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University will offer 10 per cent weightage in the entrance test marks to ‘home state’ candidates in B.Ed, M.Ed and diploma in engineering programmes, to a maximum of 30 per cent of the approved intake.
According to a notification released by the university registrar, the Academic Council had approved the weightage for programmes in all colleges of teacher education and departments of education and training and at all MANUU polytechnics. The entrance test was held on May 26 and 27.
The Academic Council in its meeting on June 4 took note of the under-representation of native students its programmes. It considered the recommendations of a committee, constituted by the vice-chancellor, to examine the measures for enhancing local representation of students.
This relaxation is applicable to students who have passed the qualifying examination from any institution/university or state board or NIOS study centre located in the particular state where the MANUU institution is located subject to other eligibility conditions.
