Hyderabad: Too late for SCB to repair roads
That is the only bright spot for SCB residents.
Hyderabad: The Secunderabad Cantonment Board recently laid a road in Bapujinagar, Bowenpally, just ahead of the monsoon. Residents had complained that the road was in bad shape and was full of potholes.
That is the only bright spot for SCB residents. There are many such roads in the cantonment which should have been repaired by now. With the monsoon arriving, the work will be put on hold as it is difficult to lay roads during the rains. Besides, material for road construction will get wasted in the rain.
The roads in Old Vasavinagar are badly potholed, making it difficult to drive on them. Having been unable to move the SCB to repair the roads, residents are resorting to posting funny memes to highlight their frustration. Mr T. Sathish Gupta, president for Vasavinagar Colony, said, “The roads are in bad shape for 15 years, the SCB did not make any effort to repair them. They should start work on the roads before the rainy season sets in so that we won’t have any problem when it rains.”
He said the SCB had told them that it did not have the money. “We hope we get better roads, before the next rainy season,” Mr Gupta said. The situation is not better in Padmaja Colony, where the road also gets inundated. Colony resident R. Loknadham said, “The rainwater stands knee-deep and enters our houses. We will not be able to leave our houses when it rains.”
