Hyderabad: 2 Weapons sellers arested

They had smuggled two country-made pistols which were manufactured in Bihar into the city.

Hyderabad: Two illegal firearm traders hailing from Bihar were arrested by the LB Nagar Special Operations Team (SOT) police on Saturday. They had smuggled two country-made pistols which were manufactured in Bihar into the city.

According to the police, the accused, Arun Yadav and Shankar Yadav, migrated from Bihar and started working as watchmen at a hotel in Secunderabad and a bar at Almasguda, Meerpet, respectively.

Additional commissioner of police, Rachakonda, G. Sudheer Babu said, “As their earning was not sufficient to meet their ends. they hatched a plan to sell firearms in Hyderabad to make money.”

He said the duo approached an illegal firea-rms supplier, Mithilesh Kumar, and procured two pistols, costing Rs 20,000 each, along with six live rounds and an empty magazine. They were trying to sell the weapons in the city for Rs 1 lakh each. Police got to know of their plans and nabbed them at a house in Meerpet on Saturday, Mr Sudheer Babu said.

The Meerpet  police have registered a case the Arms Act, Further investigation is underway.
