Selfie-taker run over by train
According to the police, Dawood, a resident of Shalibanda, was on his way to Gulbarga on a pilgrimage.
Hyderabad: In a suspected selfie-related death, a 21-year old man died on Saturday morning at the Manthatti railway station. The victim, Dawood Qureshi, was reportedly trying to take a selfie in front of the Aurangabad Express when it ran over him.
Manthatti is about 140 km from the city.
According to the police, Dawood, a resident of Shalibanda, was on his way to Gulbarga on a pilgrimage. He boarded the Falaknuma-Gulbarga passenger on Saturday when halted at the Manthatti railway station to allow the Aurangabad Express to pass.
Dawood along with his four friends tried to take a selfie in front of the express train and was run over by it.
Tandur railway police has registered a case and sent the body for a postmortem examination. The family of Dawood was informed of the incident. Further investigation is underway, a railway police offer said.
