Andhra Pradesh: Eamcet counselling may be held on July 23
This has led to a great injustice to other students and also the colleges.
Kakinada: Good news for Andhra Pradesh EAMCET-2016 students as the state government has decided to hold the second counselling for EAMCET students probably on July 23, after completion of the National Institute of Technology and IIIT counselling which may commence from July 19.
Initially, indications were that the counselling may be held on July 15. Officials of various universities in the state and the students felt that it was not appropriate to hold counselling without completion of the national institute’s counselling.
For the last two years, many of the seats in university colleges and other reputed engineering colleges remained vacant, as the rankers who got the seats in these colleges left them for national institutes.
This has led to a great injustice to other students and also the colleges. It is learnt that now the government has decided to hold counselling on July 23, 24 and 25.
Following the present decision, though those who got ranks in national institutes would leave these colleges, the next rank students will get admission, as they can get seats in good colleges in second counselling. “If the state government holds the second counselling, after completion of the national institutes, it will be of more benefit to students as well as engineering colleges, said a director of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada.
Meanwhile, JNTUK would hold counselling for IIMD (International Integrated Masters Degree Programme) courses on July 11. Sources said that nearly 150 students have qualified in entrance test for these courses.
