CHENNAI: The Army will soon commence its process of recruitment in the ranks of junior commissioned officers and other ranks in the state. The first recruitment rally for the southern districts will commence on August 2 at Ramanathapuram, followed by a rally at Tiruvannamalai on  August 19 for the north eastern districts.  And the third rally for western districts will be held in November in Madurai. Online applications are invited for the selection process.

Selection process includes physical fitness and measurement tests, followed by medical and written tests.  Brig. Sangram Dalvi, Deputy Director General (DDG) Recruiting, Tamil Nadu said “The candidates must practice well for the one mile run test.  This is a very tricky test which requires speed, stamina and endurance and cannot be passed without adequate practice”.  He also added that the candidates should check their basic selection criteria before they report for selection. The tests are stringent to ensure that only physically fit young men enter the Army. Outstanding sportsmen and NCC cadets will be given bonus marks. Dalvi added that TN has a large number of engineering colleges and appealed to engineering students to consider Army as a career option.
