Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah reportedly pulled up DG&IG Om Prakash, who had gone to the CM’s official residence Cauvery on Friday to brief him on DySP M.K. Ganapati’s suicide.

Upset over government officials, particularly police officers, taking the extreme step, Mr Siddaramaiah asked Mr Prakash why Mr Ganapati gave an interview to private TV channels without his permission. Mr Siddaramaiah asked Mr Prakash why other officials could not gauge the mood of Mr Ganapati, who was reportedly depressed.

“If this continues, the government will get a bad name. This is not done. Set things right and let there be coordination among officials," he reportedly said in the presence of Home Minister Dr G. Parameshwar.

The home minister told the chief minister senior officers were being transferred without his knowledge, but his department was held responsible when such incidents occurred. Dr Parameshwar also said that it was unfortunate that the home minister is not kept in the loop over major decisions.
