Swathi case: BJP against political, caste interference
Ganesan said that there was a lot of confusion prevailing over the state govt plan over the conduct of the election.
Madurai: There should not be any political or caste group interference in the Swathi murder case investigation, said senior BJP leader L. Ganesan here on Friday. "One shouldn’t interpret this case taking into account the caste identify of either the deceased or the murder victim,” he said when reporters asked his opinion of some political parties demanding transfer of the case to CBI.
“Only a political party has demanded CBI investigation. We shouldn’t give a caste angle to this case,” said Ganesan while interacting with reporters when he visited Madurai to participate in private functions. The police should thoroughly investigate the case based on the evidence collected from various sources and get maximum punishment for the murderer, he said.
When asked about the BJP’s preparation for the upcoming local body election, Ganesan said that there was a lot of confusion prevailing over the state government plan over the conduct of the election.
“We have been hearing that the government is planning to bring changes in panchayat level election and also to introduce 50 per cent reservation for women,” he said. “Only if the government gives clear announcements about the local body election, would it be easy for political parties to prepare for it,” said Ganesan.
