Hyderabad: Residents of RK Nagar Seetharamnagar and Malkajgiri complain that trees chopped by the power department have been dumped at the colony. Mr Madan Mohan, vice-president of Seetharamnagar Colony, said, “It is three weeks since the trees were cut. Although it is a good move, the electricity department should also be in charge of clearing the debris. Residents and students of JJ Talent School nearby have had accidents because of the debris, after which the residents moved the waste to the side of the road.”
The green waste set aside by residents has turned into a water stagnation point.

Residents said the place where the tree debris had been pushed had become a place for dumping garbage. “Many morning walkers are dumping waste on top of the green waste. For three weeks, it has been getting worse and is turning out to be very unhygienic,” said Ms Seema Agarwal, a resident. “We have called the GHMC and the electricity department to clear the roads. It is in the main road of the colony and is turning out to be a disturbance for a lot of commuters. But both the departments keep making us go around in circles and say that they are not responsible for the same,” said RK Nagar resident Mati Ramesh.

The electricity board at Vinayaknagar claims not to have received any complaints. “Since the start of the monsoon, the electricity department has been cutting branches that could entangle with power lines. It is a busy time for the department and we will work towards clearing the green waste too,” said assistant engineer Ravinder A.
