‘Mazhayarangu’ helps students learn theatre

Kozhikode: Noted film-drama actor Vijayan Karanthoor inaugurated 'M-azhayarangu', the two-day theatre camp organised by Akam theatre group, at Medical College campus Government Higher Secondary school, here, on Monday.
A permanent theatre entity, the Akam theatre group of the school helps the students to utilise the techniques of theatre for better understanding of lessons by reproducing them as dramas, to know the history of theatre, to react on social issues, the school said in a press release.
Camp director A.Abubecker said that the camp aims at helpingl students to explore the potential of theatre in empowering them. Exposure to stage would help one to liberate from the self, reaffirming the character with positive attitude and acquired skills, it was pointed out.
More than 100 students are participating in the theatre camp.
School headmaster K.K. Khalid welcomed the gathering.
