Tenant farmers will be protected, says Jagan Mohan Reddy
CM promises to bring Godavari water to Krishna.
Kadapa: From September this year, pensioners in the state will get their pension amounts directly at homes.
“Village or ward volunteers concerned will come to their house and hand over the pension amount,” Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy told the pensioners, at a public meeting at Jammalamadugu on Monday.
KC Canal works, besides other irrigation works, would be taken up and quality seeds, fertilisers would be provided to farmers.
Rayalaseema and Prakasam districts will get Godavari water.
He also gave away Adarsha Rythu Awards to progressive farmers from the districts for their innovative and excellent farming methods.
MSP will be provided to farmers and cold storage units would be set up besides steps to protect the rights of tenant farmers. He promised to bring Godavari Water to Krishna through Srisailam Reservoir which will be supplied to Rayalaseema.
“The Legislators in the constituencies will continue as Agriculture Market Committees’ honorary chairmans and the elected chairman will work as the executive chairman,” he said.
The MLAs will know the crops and the production details. If a market will not support a farmer, he has to bring this issue to the government’s notice.
“Immediately the government will react and compensate the price to the farmers,” the CM explained.
He reached Jammalamadugu by 2.30 pm and visited the stalls arranged by the Agriculture and Horticulture Depart-ments. He distributed the agriculture inputs to selected farmers.
The CM assured farmers that Chennur Sugar Factory would be reopened and that the foundation stone for Kadapa Steel Plant would be laid on December 26 and it would be commissioned in three years’ time, by providing employment to over 20, 000 people.
Chief Minister along with family members, paid tributes to his father late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy at the Ghat. After this, he had garlanded the statue of former CM late Rajasekhar Reddy. Then, Mr Reddy went to Gandi and had darshan of Lord Hanuman.
He laid foundation for development works worth `3.51 crore at Gandi Temple.
He laid the foundation stone for the Banana Research Centre proposed at Pulivendula, under the YSR Horticulture University.
Those who attended the main function include panchayat raj minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, agriculture minister K. Kannababu, agriculture mission vice-chairman M.V.S. Nagi Reddy besides MPs P.V. Midhun Reddy, Y.S. Avinash Reddy and collector Harikiran.
