Free Bus Services Launched for Durga Temple Devotees

Vijayawada: Kanaka Durga temple authorities have started a free bus service from Durga ghat to the temple atop Indrakeeladri here on Sunday. Two buses will be available for the devotees to go to the temple and return. Devotees come in large numbers from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka to
the temple.

Chairman of the temple trust board Karnati Rambabu and executive officer Darbhamulla Bhramaramba jointly flagged off the first service Durga ghat. They said that the bus service would be  useful to women, children and elderly devotees.

Board members Buddha Rambabu, Namburi Ravi, Katta Sattaiah, Chinta Simhachalam, Kesari Nagamani, Thottadi Vedakumari Garlu, engineers K.V.S. Koteswara Rao and D.V.V. Satyanarayana, and others participated.

Meanwhile, in a separate programme, Ashada Masam utsavalu saw the turnout of a large number of devotees to Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri Hill. Devotees presented Ashada Pavitra saris to the goddess and offered special pujas. Nitya arjitha sevas, khadgamala archana, Laksha kumkumarchana, Chandi homam, Shanthi kalyanam and other pujas performed.  Advisor to State government G.V.D Krishna Mohan also visited the temple.
