Bengaluru: Former Lokayukta Justice N. Santosh Hegde reminded children about the contributions made by Kannada poet Mathoor Krishnamurthy in spreading Indian culture and values abroad and urged them to fight corruption.

While addressing the gathering he said that contentment with what one has legitimately earned will stop corruption.

“Earning legitimately earned money is not a sin, but one should be content with what they have. By any means, the law should not be violated,” he added.

Hegde told Deccan Chronicle that one must read about the journey of Krishnamurthy spanning 23 years in London, where he brought people of all faith to build Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan in London.

“The man is a role model and he spread Indian culture and Indian values abroad. He will also be known for his simplicity,” Hegde pointed out.

Citing the examples of scams like 2G, 3G and coal gate, Hegde said that he came to know how deep rooted corruption was only after becoming Lokayukta.

Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan recently adopted a high school in Srirampuram, which as per Maa Nataraj of Gandhi Kamaraj Memorial Trust is running on the lines of Kendriya Vidyalaya. Calling Krishnamurthy as a man of values, Madhusudan Babu, principal of Little Flower High School said that he felt privileged to pay tributes to the late poet who stood for Indian tradition and its great culture.
