Telangana: Skyway on Rajiv Rahadari
The detailed project report for the skyway on the Rajiv Rahadari, a state highway, is ready.
Hyderabad: The state government is focusing on the 11.5 km skyway from Jubilee Bus Station to the Air Force Station in Hakimpet on the Karimnagar highway. The elevated corridor from Paradise to Bowenpally check post on National Highway 44 is second on the priority list.
A detailed project report has been prepared for the skyway on the Rajiv Rajadari stretch and shared with defence officials for acquisition of land. According to officials, nearly 75 acres of land is needed in Karkhana and Alwal, of which nearly 12 acres are privately owned.
A source in the roads and buildings department said the government was exploring options to have the elevated corridor on NH-44 funded by the Centre. The detailed project report for the skyway on the Rajiv Rahadari, a state highway, is ready.
Getting clearances for the construction of a skyway on this busy stretch of road is not easy. “The state highway is narrow in some areas and wide at other places. The average width is between 30 and 40 feet. The aim is to make a 200 feet-wide road. We have marked a greater area, up to 250 feet, in defence areas,” a source said.
The plan is to build a four lane elevated corridor along with a four-lane road at the ground level, apart from space for pedestrians and cyclists. The road below is intended to be used by the residents of colonies as in the case of the PVNR Expressway, he said.
