River Pamba level up

The water level in various dams in the district has also risen.

KOLLAM: River Pamba was in spate at pathanamthitta on Thursday, raising fears of floods in several spots including Triveni near Sabarimala.  The authorities have said the shutters of Moozhiyar dam will be opened by Friday morning. A yellow alert has already been issued in Pathanamthitta district on Friday.

The water level in various dams in the district has also risen. The spillway shutters of Maniyar dam has been opened and the water is flown to Kakkad river.

As many as five houses were partially damaged in the rains continuing for the second consecutive day in the district. The authorities have issued warning to those residing on the banks of major rivers in the district and to avoid journey through hilly areas due to landslide threat.

A homemaker was injured after a tree fell over her during rains at Kadakkal, here.

 Viji, 48, of Praveen Sadanam at Aiyrakkuzhi in Kadakkal is the injured. The incident took place on Thursday morning at Aiyrakkuzhi along the Madathara – Kadakkal road. Viji was immediately taken to a hospital by the local residents.

Fire fighters from Kadakkal cleared the road by removing the tree.
