Hyderabad: The Telangana State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), the watchdog agency for disciplining realtors and protecting the interests of buyers, turned a blind eye to the gross violations committed by the developers and landowners of Trinity in Marredpally.

The RERA, which is now headed by chief secretary Somesh Kumar, issued a certificate to Trinity two months ago, in May, after it was flooded with complaints of fraud and cheating by the landowner. The complaints also related to sale and registration of property by the developers without obtaining the mandatory permission from the RERA.

Documents available with Deccan Chronicle showed that D Srinivas, a resident of Ameerpet, repeatedly lodged complaints with the RERA, bringing to the latter’s notice the gross misuse of the court order in mortgaging the land on which the complex is being built and registering the flats without RERA approval. The complaints were made in February and March this year.

What is also intriguing is that TSRERA for reasons best known to it gave its approval to Trinity instead of investigating the complaints and taking action against the errant landowners and developers.
