Office Subs Move Telangana High Court Against GO on VRA Transfers
Hyderabad: Office subordinates working in government departments across the state on Wednesday challenged in the Telangana High Court the state government’s decision to transfer village revenue assistants (VRAs) to various departments, in the cadre of junior assistants (JAs) and similar posts.
The petitioners complained to the court that while they were entitled to be appointed as JAs, through transfers, the government was doing undue favour to VRAs, who are holding only honorary posts.
The petitioners also submitted that they were appointed as office subordinates between 2016 and 2022 and that they were eligible to be transferred as JAs.
They brought to the notice of the court that they had given representation to appointing authorities concerned, requesting them to consider their cases for appointment by transfer as JAs as per Rule 3 of the Telangana Ministerial Service Rules, under which certain posts are earmarked.
They alleged that the authorities did not consider their cases and contended that this clearly showed a discriminatory attitude towards them, and thereby, deprived and violated their legal rights accorded under Rule 3.
The petitioners requested the court to suspend the GO issued by the Telangana government on VRA transfers and their postings as JAs.
The High Court will hear the petition on Thursday.
