State to Screen Gandhi' Film for School Students in I-Day Celebrations

Hyderabad: The state government, to mark the closing ceremony of the ‘Vajrotsavam’ Independence Day celebrations, decided to screen ‘Gandhi’ movie for government school students.

Officials said that 582 screens are being readied for the same, for the Independence Day celebrations that will go on from August 14 to 24.

The movie, starring Ben Kingsley as Mahatma Gandhi and directed by Richard Attenborough, is a biopic that was released in 1982.

On Wednesday, minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav held a meeting with officials of the Telangana State Film Chambers of Commerce and related departments, directing them to make arrangements to screen the movie for students in theatres.

Srinivas Yadav said, “At the beginning of the ‘Vajrotsavam’, ‘Gandhi’ film was screened for students. A good response was received from students and parents.”
