DMK rally in Tiruchy: Row over permit order

A large number of DMK men were locked in heated arguments with the police over cancelling the permission for the public meeting.

Tiruchy: Tension prevailed here on Friday evening, particularly in Tennur area where the DMK and its allies had made arrangements for a public meeting at Ulavar Santhai grounds to express their protest against Neet exam, as the city police cancelled the license earlier given for the meet, citing a Supreme court ruling. 

A large number of DMK men were locked in heated arguments with the police over cancelling the permission for the public meeting. Meanwhile, Mr Stalin held discussions at the hotel where he was staying with DMK party leaders, other alliance party leaders and advocates to discuss the legal validity of the police order. 

Even as the city police commissioner Mr. A. Arun personally handed over the cancellation order to Mr. Stalin, the latter after consultations announced that the meeting will be held as scheduled. Later, Mr. Stalin and other leaders proceeded to the public meeting venue.
